YES! UK is a celebration of European youth culture. YES! UK will invite 24 young people from x6 different European cultures including UK, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia , Moldova and Romania to engage in a creative forum spread over 6 days on the theme of ‘Gang Culture’. Gang Culture and its negative aspects is an issue that efffects many of our young people on an international scale and many need help in order NOT to be enticed into engaging in negative activities that could profoundly affect their future lives. The aim of YES! UK is to create positive messages in the form of a music track, accompanying video and a TV Advertisment/ commercial.
Young people from the participating countries will engage in a series of creative workshops that will encourage them to share views and experiences of how Gang Culture has affected them and their communities. It will focus on how these views can be changed by a positive outlook. The workshops will focus on providing a creative platform for the young people to look at ways of turning ‘negative’ into ‘positive’. The creative approach of the workshops will allow the young people to express themselves in their own language i.e. the language of youth and ‘Youth Culture’ in the form of music, video & film.
With the rise and rise of sites such as YouTube, young people understand the power of music, video, film and the internet and millions of them access YouTube on a daily basis. YES! UK will foster this interest and use it as a vehicle to teach new skills. empower them to express their views (in an international forum), and overall instill in them the confidence & knowledge, that they possess the capacity to change their lives, change perceptions of youth (internationally), and therefore, in turn change the world.
